Dit jaar hebben we als thema van de lezingendag connectiviteit gekozen. Anders dan andere jaren was de voertaal Engels, zodat onze lezingendag ook voor niet-Nederlands sprekende studenten en postdocs interessant kon zijn.

Waarom connectiviteit? Omdat connectiviteit een hot topic in de ecologie is. In onze zeer gefragmenteerde West-Europese landschap moeten leefgebieden met elkaar verbonden worden om soorten in staat te stellen te migreren en genen uit te wisselen. Maar hoe we dat moeten doen, en welke criteria we moeten gebruiken voor de herstel infrastructuur blijven punten van discussie. Over deze punten hebben we een lezingendag samengesteld met wetenschappers die hun inzichten over connectiviteit in de breedste betekenis van het woord zullen presenteren.

Connectiviteit is ook een belangrijk kenmerk van NecoV. Tijdens de eerste 15 jaar van haar bestaan, heeft onze vereniging altijd haar best gedaan om wetenschap met de praktijk te verbinden, en dat zal zij ook in de toekomst blijven doen. Dit was een extra motivatie om onze 15e verjaardag vergadering te wijden aan dit onderwerp.
